Cellulite Misconceptions
Almost 90% of women will develop some
form of cellulite on their bodies. There
are many misconceptions regarding
cellulite that exist. Below are some
common ones and the truth regarding
them.
1. Cellulite only affects
overweight individuals
Not true. People of all shapes and
sizes develop cellulite. The fat cells
that causes cellulite is located near
the top layer of the skin where they are
the least likely to be affected by
weight loss or weight gain.
2. Cellulite only affects
women
This is incorrect. Some men also
develop cellulite as well. However,
cellulite is a much more common
occurrence for women because the
estrogen in females causes them to
naturally store more fat in their bodies
as a preparation for pregnancy.
3. Cellulite is solely
hereditary. If your parents and grand
parents didn't have any, you won't
either.
Not correct. While genetics do play a
part in occurrence of cellulite, there
are other factors that can cause
cellulite as well. This includes diet,
lack of exercise, medication and other
factors.
4. Diet and exercise will
eliminate cellulite
Proper diet and exercise can help
prevent or reduce the occurrence of
cellulite but it is not a guarantee.
Even athletes with very little body fat
and eat a very healthy diet can develop
cellulite.
5. Liposuction can remove
cellulite
Liposuction does not really remove
the fat deposits that causes cellulite.
The fat that causes cellulite are
located near the surface of the skin.
Liposuction is designed to remove fat
that is much deeper inside the body.
6. There is no cure for
cellulite and you just have to live with
it
Not entirely true. While there is
currently no way to to permanently
eliminate cellulite and prevent them
from forming, there are many treatments
that can drastically reduce their
appearance. This includes lipodissolve,
endermology and cellulite creams.
